A correctly written DVD should play well in most of the quality DVD players such as LG DVD player or Sony DVD player however at times a burnt DVD or written DVD won’t play in a DVD player if one of the following is true.
- DVD with multi session: A DVD which is not closed completely or a DVD which has been optimized to write more content later will have difficulty playing in the DVD players. Whenever you do write a DVD, try to avoid a DVD / CD with a multisession option as the same may not get recognized by DVD players. New DVD players are made compatible to read such discs.
- Using DVD+RW: At times a DVD player won’t be compatible to read a DVD+RW disc, try to burn your DVD’s with a regular DVD disc or DVD-/+R.
- Scratched DVD: A DVD might be scratched and will no longer play in DVD player, try to play the DVD in your computer CD Drive, if it plays then make a copy else throw away the disc.
- DVD Burner / Writer: Use a regular DVD writer software like Nero or Sony CD creator, or you will always be shipped with a CD when you buy a DVD writer, install the respective software. It is advisable to use latest version of Nero to burn or write your DVD discs.
- Corrupted DVD Disc: while burning or compiling the DVD video there can be a corruption on support files or .vob files, this can cause a failure in the disc to run, as the DVD player will no longer be able to read the disc.
