Multiple popups or popup at a certain interval usually means that you are infected with an adware or a spyware, although you might even come across a website which may open multiple popups with every visit. Popups usually helps a webmaster to earn extra money however most of the visitors will find it really annoying.

Many a times the popup are installed into the system as an Adware or Spyware which will open a popup every time you open or launch internet explorer. This can also be time based where you might come across popups on a certain interval such as 5min – 15 mins or so on whether you are browsing or not is not the question.

What to do to get rid of the annoying popups?

• Always use a popup blocker which will help you block unnecessary popups and forced web pages.
• User a better browser, using browser such as “FireFox” reduces the chances of you getting infected online with ActiveX executions and other nasty tricks. Firefox also comes with an inbuilt popup blocker.
• If you are already infected then you need to run a cleaner such as “HijackThis” or any other Anti-Spyware software, this will clean any such infection.
• Keep your antivirus software upto date and run scan on a regular basis.
